Hello and I do believe this newsletter might be late, but talk about back to back holidays and days of rest, right?
I hope you are all doing well and that 2020 is shaping up nicely for you so far. Now, to be real, it might feel exactly the same as 2019 right now. I know for me there’s a period of adjustment.
And a period of hype and expectation followed by failure and readjustment and learning and calming down, right? I’ve been reading - I wrote a fairly nice thing about books and reading, and me and my life - check it out here.
I might take things week by week, rather than this year I plan on doing x, y, z. I have ideas about what I want to do, achieve, how I want to be, change, but I do not want to do the whole ‘pressure’ thing either. We rang in the New Year at Buddha Temple. An Interfaith celebration about compassion. I think 2020 has to be the year of compassion now, based on that, and on reality is needing from me, from all of us.
Here’s your New Year 2020 Poem:
We look up and it is new
somehow going to sleep, waking up
means change has occurred
means it’s different today.
This thing, a string
connecting then and now
forever tangled,
we learn to
stop, sit, be still -
unbraid, unmake, untwist
the single string, the connecting thing
so that it is something that
shines with hope
that heals with peace
that is a link of love, at the beginning
and end of it all.
Thank you all for being here, signing up, and supporting my poetry and writing - it means a lot to me. I will keep it up in this 2020, this much I do know - poetry is my spirit and my healing light. I am grateful for poetry, and for you.
Sincerely,
