Hello Lovely Justice Poetic Poetry Supporters,
This week’s poem of the week is one that I wrote on Thanksgiving. It was just my fiance and I. Just us. All day. And we were low on money. So, we ate what we had in the house - a giant pot of soup I had made the day before, and we made the day work. We watched movies and we watched the snow fall. And in a quiet moment, I wrote this poem. For him, for me, for us and for anyone who might have these expectations about what Holidays “should be” or for all of us who see our friends posting what their amazing magical feasts and activities are like. It is hard to not feel down, but also, we can reflect and be grateful for what we have. That is, I believe, the entire point anyway, right?
Thank you for all of your support. Remember you can check me out on Medium, thank you, and also, support me on Patreon - poets need to eat, right? :)

And here’s the text of it all for those not on Medium, yet :)
Holiday for Two
Sometimes a holiday is
just a holiday for two,
life slices and carves
people and families
scattered
separate
spread
yet we know it is what it takes
we know if not for that
we would not have us, us two, we would
not be as happy we would not
have this holiday that
despite the longings and missings and wishings
has been a sweet day
a gratitude day
a loving day where we gave thanks as
we ate leftover soup, twice, as we shared the last brownie
was it the feast posted on everyone’s feed, no
was it nice and calm and simple and ours, yes
this couch is part of us now, this holiday couch
movies from breakfast to bed
it wasn’t that surrounded and feasting kind of day,
but it was still a good day
and that’s what will matter in the end.
As a bonus, for those of you who might not read much poetry, or for those who might know people who have expressed being ‘poetry-curious’ I have put together a little list of great poets, organized by theme of the poem, that might help save and support Poetry on Medium, a struggling art, and that might get poetry to those in need of it - aka, all of us.
Thank you for your support!
Talk to you next week, <3
